Fable 5.1 is an absolute beast for game dev. I took my Opus 5 space game and told Fable to "just make it look better". It overhauled everything with a TON of detail, AND made it 2x faster 🤯

- GPT Live: a bidi voice architecture that can run continuously, staying quiet or jumping in as appropriate

These are the Exodia pieces, and when they come together, it’ll change our relationship with technology. Most computers will only exist for agents. Most work will happen by talking to your OpenAI pendant or whatever, which will orchestrate dozens of agents across virtual computers you never see or think about.
Many challenges remain (alignment, embodiment, memory, battery life, …), but this seems as tractable—even imminent—as ever. Scaling just keeps working. The internal branches are converging for OpenAI.

Great design is exactly the opposite of this. Great design bends the rules and delights users with memorable, unexpected choices."
@anshuc led design and engineering teams at Apple for 12 years. In his words: "Most people only see 1% of AI's creative potential. I want to show you how to tap into the other 99%."
His 8 techniques for breaking out of the 1%:
1. Use seed strings to inject variety
2. Be much more ambitious with your prompts

4. Use image generation to enrich designs

6. Cut out elements that don’t add value

Extremely proud of this article I wrote for the legendary
@lennysan! This is the culmination of months of research into why most AI designs are slop, and my top techniques for fixing this.
LLMs can be super creative, but as we post-train them more and more, we stifle that creativity. We train them to predict tokens that balance everyone’s preferences. But good design does the opposite: it’s risky, bold, and opinionated. You have to put your LLM in a different state of mind to get this kind of design from it. You have to break out of the average slop, into the fringes of the bell curve where unseen ideas live.

Astra is impressive, but frontend designers are definitely not cooked. OpenAI hasn’t solved slop yet
The visuals look cool but none of it makes any sense. The copy on the page is still pretty cringe. There’s a lot of detail, but it’d look better if it just removed excess instead of embellishing it. The model still doesn’t have the taste or judgement to recognize these things. It’s still like a junior coder who’s extremely good at writing shaders and React, but needs someone to actually think through the page structure and tell it what to do.
A human empowered by Astra will do incredible things, though. Very excited to try it out

vibe coding is actually going to kill people isn’t it
bro this app has so much potential to go viral
Too many people have a great app but no users, because they cheaped out on AI slop UGC. And the crazy thing is, human UGC is actually cheaper. AI UGC is a waste of money.
Let's do the math.
AI UGC sounds cheap, say $10/video. But most users realize it's AI and scroll past. This is VERY bad for you:
- low engagement = no algo reach, low 100s of views
- you've lost those users' trust because your brand looks deceptive
If you're doing 100 views and (generously) convert at 2% CTR, you'd need 50 videos to get 100 users. That's $500.
Human UGC is $166/video with Icon's new plan, and users react very differently:
- real emotions and authenticity drive engagement = more algo reach, 1k-10k views
- users trust your brand = virality from word-of-mouth/network effects (millions of views)
Even if it doesn't go mega viral, 5k views at a modest 3-4% CTR is 150-200 users from a single video.
That's $166 for human UGC vs $500 for AI UGC, and the human one gets 1.5-2x the results.
And if it touches a nerve and goes mega viral, you can add tens of thousands of users and rocket your app into the stratosphere. Good luck making that happen with AI UGC.
One last point that's very underrated: you don't actually want users who fall for AI ads. You want users who are sharp, actually have your problem, and want your solution. Those are the people who'll pay, stick around, and build you an income.

I still don’t understand what ChatGPT Work is. I barely understand Claude Cowork and Grok Bot. This entire product category doesn’t make sense to me, yet everyone’s racing to build it. Can someone enlighten me?
Codex, Claude Code, and Grok Build are useful because they run on my computer, with my files. I need them to do some stuff and they just do it. They use my apps, browser session, etc.
“But you can’t close your laptop!” Yeah, that’s annoying. That’s why I have a Mac mini and a gaming PC that run agents too, so I can remote control them and they’re always on.
As far as I can tell, all these new solutions are taking that solution and turning it into a managed service, with isolated cloud VMs. That defeats the entire purpose. Now to have it use my apps and files, I have to link a bunch of accounts and git repos. My agents are all juggling branches and PRs just to slop together a throwaway demo. Why? I don’t care! Just edit the file!

GLM-5.3 is really fun for web design. I redid my old GLM-5.2 demo with 5.3 and WOW, look at the difference!
Zero dependencies, zero assets. Just an HTML file.
It one-shot most of this, but I had to a few iterations after to fix visual glitches and bugs. It does need a little handholding. Not quite on par with Claude Opus/Fable, but not that far off either.
The big drawback is it can't see images. It made a valiant effort to find and diagnose issues by writing scripts to analyze pixel values of screenshots. They really need to fix this. In the meantime, you could probably let it use some small model as its eyes to work more autonomously. I'll have to try that next.
