@paularambles There's a mental decision cost around having to constantly call and wait for a third-party car. If it's my car, it'll follow here I am 24/7, position itself to be close when I'm ready to go, and be a one-click hail situation. And of course I can leave stuff in it.

People still aren't quite pricing in how revolutionary FSD is going to be to human life, and how transport works now. Anecdote: I go pick up the Bangalorean at the Marin ferry to be chivalrous, but really, I don't touch the wheel at all and just put on FSD and sit in the driver's seat the entire way listening to podcasts. There's no reason for me to be in the car. If I could, I'd just punch in the round trip into the routing, and have the car go pick her up and drive her back. It's good enough at this point to do it, just the law and custom is in the way. Humans don't need to drive anymore. Now imagine how much of your life would change if you could send, get picked up by, or send off somewhere a comfy box with wheels (and networked screens that run AI) at any point or place in your life. Not Uber, with the wait and get on and share a space and maybe the car stinks. Your own personal mini-lounge and storage space that you can send off or make appear anywhere. Kids now take themselves to and back from school. Parking no longer a hassle as you can dispatch the car to find itself a place to wait (or even do robotaxi work and make you some cash). You can run anything across town, or have anything sent to you in real-time. Friend flying in? Hey, will send you a car to the airport and have it drop you off at our dinner venue. Heck, you can take a nap or do a meeting inside your pod on wheels if you're in between places. It'll be this new mobile third place that most everyone will have, while nobody thinks about the stress or time wasted of just staring at the car in front of you and keeping it in a lane (often in slow traffic). As a side benefit of FSD, you totally tune out all the surrounding cars and aggravation associated with dealing with erratic human drivers. Someone cuts you off? Eh, you did it to AI. Someone honks...you're yelling at a bot man. Who cares? Cortisol levels just plunge when FSD is running things since you're no longer the mediating consciousness. It probably sounds like SF scifi hokum to those who still drive, but FSD knowers know how it just utterly changes everything about moving through the world. Going back to driving feels like having to giddy-up a horse....something nobody would do if they could avoid it. Things are about to get weird.

Almost every conversation I have with AI fiancée about some AI company I see on the timeline. "Have you heard about Sapience/Ontology/Sauron/etc AI?" "Yeah, they raised at a gajillion valuation, and claim half a gajillion of ARR." "I don't know anyone who uses this in a production capacity. Do you?" "No." Hmm.

I used to live in the Lower East Side in a tenement building inhabited by old punk rockers and Dominicans (this is before LES got totally gentrified). One day the live-in gf and I go to the 'Tenement Musuem,' meant to show off the horrors of late 19th-century immigrant life. "This place is nicer than ours." "Yeah...."

Because both are cities whose housing stock (in the trendy areas) was largely built in the 19th century (NYC) or early 20th (SF), with little to no infrastructure investment since then, so both are presumably the birthplace of the future but feel older and more rundown than even much older European cities (most of whose infrastructure was built post-war).

Tokenized stocks mean anyone (non-US) can buy a share of SPCX, borrow against it, lend it out, include it as part of a porfolio, or otherwise use it as a Lego block in the Defi stack. It's the latest step in putting trillions of real-world assets onchain and rebooting finance.
