A black woman in York, Pennsylvania, said she was “personally offended” that officials called violent porch attackers "uncivilized". ⠀ The Fox 43 meeting covered the Sept. 12 beating on the 300 block of West Jackson Street. York College of Pennsylvania students were on their rental porch when a street-race crowd moved onto the grass. ⠀ A victim told Fox 43 they asked the crowd off the property after a racer smashed a parked car by the firehouse. “After the first punch was given, all these girls started to rush us.” ⠀ “I turn and see my friend get dragged by her hair down our porch steps and disappear. My other friend got dragged by her hair.” Another student said she was dragged to a stop sign and kicked by a pack while she tried to hold her top up. ⠀ She blacked out when she was kicked in the ribs and again when she was hit in the head. “I was encircled by probably 30 people by myself getting video recorded while getting punched and kicked from every angle.” ⠀ Video showed a blonde student ripped off the porch. Many of the attackers on tape are black. Three juvenile girls have been charged. Officials said the injuries met the legal definition of bodily injury and were not life-threatening. ⠀ Students said they called 911 five times and that police arrived after the beating. York College said the people who started the fight were not students and offered the women beds on campus. ⠀ At the meeting the woman said, "To me, that feels like you're saying that the juveniles in this incident are uncivilized, and I am personally offended by that analogy." ⠀ She asked what the college would do to check the behavior of the white students living off campus.
