Onboarding at OpenAI is one of the fastest I have ever experienced.
Step 1) login to Slack
Step 2) download and login to ChatGPT.
That’s basically it. Anything in this company can be driven from here, and it comes readily configured. You can figure out how to do anything or find the right person for anything. All workflows and tools integrate well into Slack and so you don’t have to leave these two surfaces.
This is the future of onboarding and enables engineers to ship on day one at scale.
I didn’t think it was possible to keep this velocity at this scale, but it is.
My first meeting of the day is with a tiny, highly opinionated stakeholder.
I used @ChatGPT Work to turn my one-year-old’s food notes into a meal plan, caregiver site, grocery cart, and weekly feedback loop.
Same tiny boss. A lot less admin.
ChatGPT Work can now use its computer and browser to sign in to websites on web and mobile, without ChatGPT ever seeing your username or password.
That means you can ask it to:
• Set up utilities for a new apartment
• Book a DMV or passport appointment
• Check reimbursement costs through your insurance
• Find and book an in-network doctor around your availability
• Check when your car registration expires and prepare the renewal paperwork
• Compare your rental insurance policy with an issue you’re emailing your landlord about
• Find and save apartment listings that match your criteria
• Restock something just by uploading a photo
• Schedule a package pickup for a return
• Cancel tickets for a rescheduled trip
• Book a vet appointment
• Submit reimbursement paperwork for medical treatments
• Check resale sites for new drops and save things you might like
• Find candidates with specific experience and draft outreach
• Take invoices from your email and submit them to your accounting software
• Draft replies to rental property inquiries
• Fill out permit applications for your small business
• Add action items to a vendor portal based on a recent client call
• Analyze the latest ad campaign for your small business
Sent ChatGPT Work a festival screenshot. “Add this to my Google Calendar.”
It created the event, dates and location included.
I’ll handle judging the lineup.
Transparent backgrounds are now available in preview for GPT-Image-2 in the API.
Generate reusable assets you can place on any background—for product imagery, graphic design, website mockups, and marketing campaigns.
Want the @ChatGPT iOS app to default to Remote Control when launched?
You can now open it automatically with this setting. The Home Screen widgets will still open regular Chat/Work.
(thanks @Dimillian and team for adding this for us Remote Control sickos)
Everyone working in AI in Silicon Valley should be required to talk to someone outside the bubble at least once a week
My friends in the Midwest have wildly different perceptions of AI
The gap between the conversation here and everywhere else feels wider than ever
one of the most beautiful things about OpenAI is that every employee really has a voice.
i wanted to capture what it feels like to work here, what our mission means to me, and why you should join us. so i made this video with Codex, shared it with the team, and they felt it was worth producing and sharing with the world.
this is our mission. and it’s why i’m here.
The fact that I can go do something else while remotely controlling ChatGPT working on my laptop still feels a little insane.
Love this era where ChatGPT and I can both cook at the same time!

I’ve started using scheduled tasks in ChatGPT Work for personal automations. Despite the name, Work isn’t just for work -- it’s your own personal agent, powered by Codex and running on a computer in the cloud.
I use it for one-off and recurring tasks like:
- Monitoring a ticketing website so I don’t miss a concert when tickets go on sale
- Watching Craigslist for new listings and price changes while I look for a second dirt bike for friends and family
- Turning a noisy daily newsletter into a concise weekly summary
- Getting a weekend shortlist based on my interests and the weather in the Bay Area
- Checking parties in SF for a specific date when my brother is in town
- Keeping an eye on my finances
I used to run these automations on an always-on Mac mini using Codex desktop and remote access. Now I can create and edit them directly from my phone, and everything just works out of the box. I also use the Gmail plugin to receive email updates when needed.
Another advantage is that ChatGPT Work runs Codex in the cloud with access to my ChatGPT memories-- context that isn’t available when I run Codex locally. That’s especially useful for personalized tasks like my weekend shortlist.
To get started, open ChatGPT (web, desktop, or mobile), switch to Work mode, and describe what you want to automate. Chat for a minute to build up context, then ask ChatGPT to create a scheduled task. Note that the task will run using the model selected when it was created.
Enjoy your own personal AI agent!
