That "user from Japan" with the book — that was me.
August 2024, first Cursor Meetup in SF. The book wasn't even published yet — I flew from Tokyo with the cover proof of the first book ever written on Cursor.
Two years later: Cursor Meetup Tokyo drew 6,000+ registrations, with meetups from Sapporo to Okinawa.

Amazing product, but more importantly, amazing PEOPLE!! Could not be more excited
Believe it or not, the original Grok Bot started as an exploration of what an ambient computer assistant might look like.
I wanted to give an expressive face to a helper that could also use your computer. The character evolved, but that sense of presence stuck around.
Looking back, you can already see parts of the eventual app taking shape around it.

I’m excited to share that I’m joining @cursor_ai (soon to be part of SpaceX) to work on Cloud Agents. I’ll still be managing state, but agents this time instead of databases.
I’ve been following Cursor for a while, and they have the vision and taste for the next era of software development. Developer tooling and distributed systems are the two things I keep coming back to, and Cursor speaks to both sides of me. I can’t wait to build what comes next.
