There are so many grotesque examples like Bill Maher: people who don't just champion free speech and rail against cancel culture but build their careers on that branding -- UNTIL: It all comes to a grinding halt when it comes to speech about their group: "oh, you can't say that: it's inciting violence against us" (the standard argument always used to censor speech or for "cancel culture" in every case). Bari Weiss is of course the Queen of this self-absorbed dynamic. Ben Shapiro, too. But Bill Maher is probably the most blatant illustration of this fraud because few have exploited and profiteered from these free speech and anti-cancel-culture values more than he, only to instantly turn into the ADL and start policing and trying to suppress speech when he thinks it endangers his group: "Normally, I'm a free speech guy all the way, and maybe here, too, BUT...."
