Helping out at my dad’s restaurant in high school I remember a regular came by just as we closed and then my dad went outside. The man was an amateur hunter but didn’t know how to process the deer he got. So he tried to make a deal with my dad for him to process it for him and give him a cut of the meat. I’ve never seen my dad cook food that wasn’t purchased by us before but he ended up doing it. Of course I was volunteered to help as well. We spent the next few hours processing it and when we were done. He told the customer to hang on while he made us a later dinner. We all hung around and waited for the food and it was actually pretty decent, first time trying venison. I ended up staying a few hours later cleaning up the mess and clean hung everything. I’m sure the health department wouldn’t have been too keen on us doing that but from what I remember that was the first and the last time he ever cooked outside food.
