This is exactly why I avoid shady dealerships. I’ve been to one that offered me a service on a part I don’t even have based on mileage recommendations. This woman went in for a basic service and when she went to see why it was taking too long she found her engine bay in pieces. The mechanics were using her brand new car for parts. This is ongoing so I’m not sure what they did as compensation but for me a free oil change is not going to cut it. Back when I had the 2004 Mitsubishi Evo, I mistakingly took it to the dealer for an oil change, I was warned against it because I had many aftermarket performance parts added and tuned. It was pushing 600hp which was double what it had at the factory, it was a beast at the time. I know the oil change normally only takes about an hour, it’s such a basic service. But when the tech was inspecting my car for their multi point inspections, he said my struts were bad and wrote me up a quote for new suspension, an alignment and he said my muffler was bad because I didn’t have a catalytic converter anymore. I also suspect he was the one who stole my carbon fiber shift knob, they replaced it with a stock one. They knew I had allot of work done and they even personally told me my warranty was voided which was illegal. Later on a law passed that said it’s only voided if the part replaced is what caused the issue. So no longer can they void my warranty because I changed my air filter box to a cold air intake. The suspension was HKS from Japan, brand new. No way it was having issues, I seriously think he wanted to replace my suspension because he wanted to keep my aftermarket suspension. I’ve heard of dealerships swapping parts before. They will blame my expensive parts and replace them with the factory parts all the while I’m paying them to steal from me.

Now this is why I never go to the quick lube places. They always find something “wrong” with the car and it’s always an expensive fix. Go in for a $30 oil change and be told you need $300 in repairs. That’s how they lure you in. After getting my performance car tuned, my oil changes went from $115 at the dealer to close to $1500 because of the fluids involved, that to me is justified especially for the amount of hp I have. But back then I was changing the oil on an 1989 Ford Escort, it should have been the advertised $30. I later found out I didn’t even have a rear differential on that front wheel drive car, I feel they tried to scam me into getting a service for parts on the car I didn’t even have.

This MMA teacher is being criticized for his methods of teaching. While others are praising him for toughening up their kids. I don’t think he’s doing anything wrong, I think he’s doing it in a controlled manner and at no point is anybody upset about this. Even the child was happy with a sense of accomplishment when he was done. It definitely gave him bragging rights. I was doing my kata, it was afterschool and I was so tired already, I also didn’t get a chance to eat lunch that day and was feeling the effects of that. I wasn’t as sharp or quick as I normally was. I also forget a few of the motions in the routine as well. I remember it to this day, every time my arms weren’t where they were supposed to be, I got hit by a piece of bamboo, when my feet weren’t where they were supposed to be, got a strike to the leg. I wasn’t allowed to complain or wince or they would strike again. It made me focused no matter how I was feeling that day. In real life when things happen, they happen whether I am ready or not so now I finally understand what the lessons Sifu was trying to teach me.after going through all of this, I wouldn’t mind if my kid went through it, I want him to know what a strike feels like.

My kid is in karate right now, I think they baby him way too much. They need to teach the kids discipline with consequence. The way they are doing it now is a watered down version of what many of us went through. We did full contact sparring with no pads. I want him to know how it feels if he gets struck by an actual opponent trying to hurt him. I think teaching the kids to take a punch is helpful as well. Am I being too harsh? I just want to prepare him for the real world.

There is a state park by me that closes when the sun goes down for safety reasons. I always see people find a way in there to do what they need to do. No matter what they do mayor be add a gate or even have more law enforcement, there’s no stopping it. These people are sitting in their car. They see people walking in and out of the woods while they are sitting there eating and chatting. The people going in and out look so out of place, like they are in a zombie apocalypse. If I saw people just struggling in and out of the woods, looking dirty, no flashlights at all. I would think they are up to something. Especially for the hikers making their way back and hearing rumbling and voices I would be creeped out too.
