Today, September 16, marks the beginning of one of the most painful chapters in Palestinian history.
In the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut, Palestinian civilians — including women and children — were killed during the massacre that took place from September 16–18, 1982.
44 years have passed, but the names, faces, and memories of those who were lost have not disappeared.
We remember them today because victims should never become just numbers in history books.

In the middle of everything happening around us, Leliaa still finds little reasons to smile.
She is only 5.
She still wants to play, learn, laugh, and dream about ordinary things children everywhere should have.
Sometimes I look at her and wonder how a child can carry so much of this reality and still find a reason to smile.
She is my beautiful thing amid all this destruction. 🤍
