☕️🎃 Pumpkin Coffee comin in hot like the energy in this house this week. First week of school vibes are runnin hot, and thankfully we aren’t losing our heads over it. But losing your head isn’t always a bad thing, especially if you happen to be Salesforce. With the announcement of Headless 360, the natural next question became - where do I surface my data and where does my UI shift to? ( User Interface - where people interact with systems) One little word is silently becoming the next evolution of headless systems and AI - Surfaces. Think of a surface as a component or widget that is part of any system you are currently using. Think about what it could mean if you had the ability to bring in data and create whatever visual you wanted. That is exactly what is starting to happen now. Companies are partnering more deeply, allowing connections and system interactions, visualized for us on “surfaces” within the system. In Salesforce it could be a LWC or home page widget and in Slack it might be a side panel, canvas or preview opening up from an HTML file and in Claude it might look like and side panel preview or widget bringing new life to our data. This shift to surfaces creates even more possibilities for our systems to speak to our users in more meaningful ways, ways that stay on brand and in context in the flow of work. As a natural answer within the Salesforce product stack, Slack as the engagement layer could be best positioned for the next advancements with surfaces and multiplayer channels. And with the recent Claude partnership announcement, I think more of the industry is starting to realize the strategy and intentionality behind what Salesforce has been piecing together these last few years. Salesforce seems to play the long game yet again.
