Brad Gerstner (@altcap) on how he built Trump Accounts — a new program that gives every American baby a $1k investment account seeded by the U.S. Treasury: “I didn’t hire any lawyers. I didn’t hire any lobbyists. I didn’t have somebody else go do the work for me. I showed up in Washington and I spent over 1,000 hours of my life over the last five years relentlessly building a coalition and a product to win.” The inside story of how one VC took a dinner-table idea (proposed by his teenage son) all the way to the Oval Office… and into federal law. @eventidia reports 👇

Correction: It has come to our attention that we have misidentified the cover figure from a 2004 Vice “Hate” issue as being a Klan member. It’s actually, according to the great @Gavin_McInnes, “Terry Richardson’s manager Seth and he’s dressed like El Deuce of the Mentors.” (That issue, as well as many of the anecdotes in @BCC_Mitchell’s piece, are still beautifully insane)

As someone who now employs 20somethings, I often think about how nuts it was that my drug-addicted Vice bosses let me... edit a billion dollar website from my dorm room. I wrote about the insanity and lessons I learned from my Vice days for @PirateWires
