I love how he straight up equates his entire faith with a protection racket. Like, “Just to make sure there’s no misunderstanding - I’m Tony (Ahmed) Soprano.”
Sydney’s Lakemba Mosque is trying to gain council approval to play the Islamic call to prayer from loudspeakers.
Lebanese Muslim Association spokesman Gamel Kheir says the practice is inclusive, because Islamic authorities always historically gave non-Muslims the choice to pay a special tax for protection.
“If you return the call to prayer back to us, we leave you alone. If you don’t return the call to prayer, you have two choices: you either fight, or pay a tax for protection.”
I reckon it’s really nice to be offered protection. Thank you Gamel.
