Amp co-founder @beyang says people who think coding agents will replace humans are living in a "dismal fantasy land": "There's a lot of hype around coding agents replacing humans entirely, or agents in general replacing jobs. The capabilities of agents are evolving at a fast pace, but fundamentally they still do what you ask them to do." "What is very apparent to us in using agents day to day is that human intervention, that human guidance is still essential. If anything, it's more essential. Because if you have the wrong guidance in place, the cost of going off the rails, you can very quickly rack up a ton of token cost." "The whole, this is gonna make humans obsolete thing is just way over-hyped, to the point where some folks are living in a dismal fantasy land." @AmpCode

Puck can now talk with you in realtime. Talk through ideas, coordinate work, and get progress updates just by talking!
Try Thread Peek in Amp. It’s still experimental, and I’d love your feedback on what we should keep, change, or remove.
This is an interesting experimental feature of @AmpCode Enable it in Personal Settings > Advanced > Thread Peek
no matter the timezone, it’s that time!
We have SOC 2, and we push to main. No pull requests. Here's how we do it.
How fast can the microphone start recording reliably, across all devices/browsers? Amp made me a custom debug app in a portal for me to run on 9 different platform combos to find out, so we can improve Amp's dictation.

Finding the voice of Puck using an Amp portal. Amp put 24 voice samples across personality, speed, and delivery on one page. I can click through them and hear the differences immediately. Portals make this kind of quick experimentation simple.

I don't need local dev anymore.
How I iterate with agents in orbs using portals Quick, off the cuff video. Hit me with your questions!
RIP ~/.config… hello skill and plugin remixing. This was fun to build.
I wrote about why Mythos and Astra don't matter, and why your "harness" doesn't matter anymore, either
Link your ChatGPT subscription and the Dial adapts to it. Instead of using Fable in the Oracle, Haiku in code reviews, and GLM 5.2 in low mode, it only uses OpenAI models. No more token costs on top of your subscription.

You can now attach videos, PDFs, datasets, log files, and more, so Amp can use and see them in orbs.
Everything has changed for us with orbs. My biggest struggle right now is figuring out how to make you see what we see. So I sat down and wrote about it:
Amp can now create webhooks to wake up orbs. Have any new issue, PR, discussion, transaction, exception, or anything else you can imagine wake up an orb to handle it. Ask Amp to build you one. No forms. Just Typescript.

Orbs are now the centre of gravity for work in Amp. The natural next step is to bring your team and your agent together in the same orb. So, we're shipping multiplayer for orbs.

Amp agents can now set schedules and wake themselves up. Same thread, full context, picks up right where it left off. Your agents now work while you sleep.

If you, like me, have been seeing a lot more Amp mentions lately, give our new subscriptions a try! (And through Sun Jul 19 23:59:59.999 in the westernmost human-inhabited landmass (aka Mon Jul 20 12:00 UTC), subscribers get a 2x bonus.)
