The Nurture Assumption: Why Children Turn Out the Way They Do, revised and updated.
Daycare pseudoscience: No evidence that it makes much of a difference compared to stay-at-home parenting, and advocates & enemies do the country a disservice by terrifying parents that they may make the wrong choice. Judith Rich Harris made this point 28 years ago: That was the state of the evidence at the time, and it was consistent with her hypothesis that children are not shaped by parenting.
