The state should simply ban localities from restricting residential construction in commercial zones, IOW if you can build commercial you must also be allowed to build residential.
if journalists are allowed to say this id like to take a moment to express my symmetrical conviction that charlotte corday did nothing wrong
It would be nice if this showdown with the LIRR finally taught progressives that union members, particularly in the transportation sector, are fat cats living large at the expense of the public. Probably the triumph of hope over experience. But still.

The LIRR strike serves to illustrate another hidden advantage of road and air transportation over rail: the labor unions have far less leverage. This is solvable with changes to the law, but in the meantime it's a problem for people who want a massive rail buildout.

It's eerie how leftist anons on this site all have the same SomethingAwful patter.
The thing I find interesting about this is when I was a kid you could still spend all your time on the internet without phones, and I did, on my PC, but I guess smartphones democratized everything. I wonder how many teenagers never really spent time online prior to smartphones.

No smoking gun, but the preponderance of evidence points to smartphones, not economics, as the culprit for the global drop in fertility: • In the US and UK, births fell first and fastest in areas that got 4G earliest • Birth rates were stable in the US, UK and Australia until 2007; in France and Poland until 2009; in Mexico and Indonesia until 2012; in Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal until 2013-15 Each of these inflection points matches local smartphone adoption (see picture). • The younger the age group, the sharper the drop. • in-person socialising among young adults is dropping. In SK, by 50% in 20 years • Sexual dysfunction is higher among heavy social media user • Effect is largest in culturally traditional societies — Middle East, Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa • Decline holds across countries hit hard by GFC 2008 and those not hit, fast-growing and not growing. Excellent again @jburnmurdoch.

America's fastest-growing cities are all in exurbs, and that's not going to change. Urbanists have two choices: 1) pretend this is not the case (2) recognize that the only way to make these projects better is to invent and prove a new, different model, like @CAForever.

"Corporation" is simply the name we give to the things we choose to do together.
