A humanoid robot with full open-source blueprints just became buildable, not just researchable. Asimov v1, from Menlo Research, publishes everything: mechanical CAD, electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, and a simulation model, all under open licenses. It's a 1.2-meter, 35kg biped with 25 actuated joints, a camera, a microphone array, and onboard compute split across a Raspberry Pi 5 and a Radxa CM5. Strength specs are public too: a 15kg bicep curl and an 18kg lateral raise per arm. Nobody has to wait for a factory either. Anyone with the fabrication know-how can source parts and build one from the published bill of materials, no license fee required. Worth knowing: not buyable off a shelf. The DIY kit is a $499 deposit toward a $15,000 target price, shipping summer 2026, or full self-sourcing and fabrication. An API, locomotion policy, and mobile app are all still "coming soon."
