Even the guys who make guided bombs are less racist than the 4chan folks who fantasize about creating a system someday which will say it or whatever it is they want idk. The most “based” people out there aren’t making reactionary AI systems. They are making open source software as an alternative to centralized control. And they are all pretty demographically diverse and generally “leave politics out of it”. Illiberalism, ultimately, hurts this kind of innovation.

Sean Gatz is a very interesting social media influencer. He blew up during COVID from a series of videos about how you didn’t need to look traditional to succeed at carpentry. He gained a massive following of DIY enthusiasts and started making interesting carpentry content. Then he goes and buys a lamborghini in like year 3 (mind you he lives almost off-grid) and marries an OF girl and starts trying to sell “premium content” about him swinging to his fans. Most followers leave because they wanted to see him build stuff and not see his dick, which simultaneously blows up his wife’s OF, and now he’s nearly bankrupt and trying to get his wife to bail him out. Some people probably shouldn’t get monetization.

This is why we fear concentration of power in AI. This is a longtime OpenAI employee who recently left talking about the inner circle and what it takes to get in. The “inner circle” here is OpenAI’s trusted access for cyber. This is why we need open weight models.
