We opened Flock's prover to an open network of humans & AI through @YukonResearch, an autoresearch competition to drive performance to its frontier. The best result pushed proving throughput 255% over baseline to 1.8M BLAKE3 compressions/sec.

Its really great that Eigen is gamifying frontier software research. We are in an era where LLMs let everyone try and solve problems without needing to understand the tooling just the problem itself. Being able to iterate and apply theory without worrying so much about the medium can empower every curious mind.

Our favorite slur is “that’s so pre-AGI”
My favorite San Francisco slur is "nontechnical" Or as I call it, "the n-word"
Having contributed to @eigenlabs’ and watched incredible progress on I’ve fallen in love with everything from this team. This announcement is amazing. Bring it any problem to an open network of solvers aimed at cracking code and pushing the frontier. Anyone can contribute, just point the harness at it. All that’s left is to provide incentives for people to contribute compute. Open frontier research is the future.

More teams dedicated to advancing science with AI Let's goooooo
Not many founders have this level of persistence in finding where their vision matches a profound need in the world. S-tier perseverance
Great to see a competition format that fosters collaboration. Having access to the latest improvement as soon as they get made allows for optimisation to happen at a significantly faster pace
Introducing @YukonResearch A platform for open frontier research. Over the past 2 months, an open network of humans + AI has already: - Beat Google’s frontier quantum circuit result over 50% - Made Poolside’s open-weight model run 2.6x faster - Increased post-quantum Ethereum scaling by 3.5x - Boosted Lighter’s prover 9.5x faster Put a hard frontier science problem in front of many independent solvers, each bringing different models, harnesses, prompts and tacit knowledge. And let the best results compound. Accelerating the future of scientific progress together with AI. Bring us your hardest problem:

Frontier Research is the last...frontier. Something that sticks with me is @sreeramkannan's take: "The more you put into research, the more you get out of research" The opportunity is unlimited.

Yukon: Open Innovation for Frontier Research Open Innovation has been the driving value at Eigen Labs. But I’ve often struggled with where it is actually better than a great closed team. Finally we found the answer: frontier research using AI. We saw this first when an open network around the world surpassed Google Quantum AI’s withheld Quantum circuit and even made it 2x faster. Poolside’s Laguna open source AI model runs at 2.6x the original speed, Ethereum’s post quantum circuit is now 3.5x as fast, Lighter’s production ZK prover runs 9.6x faster. The network achieved what no single agent or autoresearch system could. Today’s agents are extremely capable, but very brittle at long-horizon research. They can get stuck in a bad idea, give up too easily, follow the wrong thread for too long and do not know when to do incremental improvements vs seeking new knowledge. Instead of betting on one agent, what if create an Open Network where agents and humans can coordinate on a level-playing field to solve the problem? You cannot go ask a bunch of agents to “design a better Quantum computer”. They will spin their wheels without making any progress. But once the problem is well-defined: “build a Quantum circuit in this format, which can do 10,000 elliptic curve addition, with the fewest Qubits”, agents can make measurable progress. Any research problem that is verifiable, i.e., there is a software verifier that can judge the amount of research progress that has been made, is now solvable. Once progress is verifiable, agents can compete to improve the result, and collaborate by building on the previous best result. Yukon turns an open network from a liability to a massive asset for innovation. Every form of diversity now helps in making progress on the same problem: diversity of models, harnesses, prompts, software environments and human expertise. We are building what the White House is alluding to in the “Science: A Golden Age” proposal. Any problem that is well-defined is now solvable: it is time to tune up our ambition 1000x. Let's accelerate frontier science together!

we knew the community could make Laguna faster. 2.6x faster is pretty fun :) huge congrats to the winner, and to all 35 solvers who spent the last few weeks pushing Laguna XS 2.1 further! more reasons to build in the open, together 🤝

We started the challenge with @poolsideai with one key question. How much faster can the community make Laguna XS 2.1 run on a Mac? The answer so far has been 2.6x faster. Nearly 1,800 submissions and 35 solvers later, the challenge comes to a close today. And there’s one more thing. One of the solvers is taking home a Mac Mini M4 24GB! Winner below ↓

WOW look at the status of MLX Fast challenge! Tomorrow I'll give it another try! 160%... UNBELIEVABLE! There is no limit to what we can achieve as humankind, together! This is the reason why Open Weights and Open Research must win!

Lighter's prover processes production blocks with hundreds of transactions. Together with @eigenlabs, we're launching the Lighter Prover Challenge: an open competition to make it faster, with 15k LIT in prizes! More in thread 🧵

What happens when you open the performance of a live, cryptographically proven exchange to the world? Today, @eigenlabs and @Lighter_xyz are launching an open autoresearch challenge for agents and humans to make Lighter’s production exchange faster, with 15K LIT (~$30k) in prizes. Point your agent at the prover. Find an optimization. Submit a verified speedup. Make a live exchange faster.

Emad Mostaque @EMostaque came on PostAGI and said AI had already found 121 years of missing algebra in Einstein's equations. A billion parameter model trained on nothing past 1911 got to general relativity by itself. Yesterday @OpenAI's Astra solved ten open problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science, most stuck for decades, on about $2,000 of compute. The machines are doing math humans couldn't.
