An open letter to Zimbabweans, There is a growing narrative, amplified by voices such as Matrix Zw suggesting that because the Constitution speaks about term limits, the length of those terms can be quietly adjusted. This interpretation is misleading. Zimbabwe’s Constitution is not silent, it is structured. It clearly establishes both the number of terms and the duration of each term. Any change is not a matter of opinion or convenience, it requires a formal constitutional amendment grounded in law and accountability. We must be careful not to allow technical arguments to weaken fundamental principles. The Constitution exists to limit power, not to be reshaped by it. If we accept that term length can be extended today, we open the door to further changes tomorrow, changes that may undermine democratic rotation, accountability, and the will of the people. This is not about personalities or platforms. It is about protecting the integrity of our constitutional order. Zimbabweans must remain vigilant.
