“Your card was declined.”
Kunle checked his account again.
Nothing.
He had brought his girlfriend to a restaurant to celebrate her birthday, and suddenly he couldn't pay.
He tried another card.
Declined.
His face went red.
Then the waiter quietly walked over.
“Sir, don't worry. It's been paid.”
Kunle looked confused.
“By who?”
The waiter pointed toward the door.
An elderly man was leaving.
Kunle ran after him.
“Sir! Why did you pay my bill?”
The man smiled.
“Because thirty years ago, I was sitting where you were sitting.”
