People are reacting like this couldn’t be true, but when I left Apple on April 29th I was in possession of two unreleased, unannounced prototypes. I contacted my former manager and Apple legal and was told someone from IT would get back with me. They did, the next day, and told me they would get back to me. They did not. Legal told me only to talk to them and no one got back with me. I was very uncomfortable holding these and kept them in my safe. Finally our dependable, wonderful department admin met me at a coffee shop and took my returns. This was…. last week, over two months later. Old Apple wouldn’t have let an ex-employee hold a prototype for more than 24 hours and would have sent someone to my door to get it. Apple has historically run with as few employees as possible but I’ve never seen it this bad. I’m not surprised at all that busy, harried lawyers could make this mistake.
