Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman took flight today to tour Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada from above, where they viewed its airfield, range facilities and more. NAS Fallon is the Navy’s premier tactical air warfare training center and is the only facility where an entire carrier air wing can conduct comprehensive training while integrating every element of the wing into realistic battle scenarios. The Fleet’s ability to deploy, persist, and fight forward begins with our training facilities.

This week, 30 senior enlisted leaders from across the Navy came together for the inaugural Enlisted Readiness Council to identify systemic barriers to readiness and develop actionable recommendations for Navy leadership. Established by Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle, the ERC creates a direct connection between senior enlisted leaders across the Fleet and the Navy’s highest levels of decision-making. Throughout the three-day council, members received guidance from the CNO, briefs from Capt. Charles Harmon, Enlisted Plans and Policy branch head, and Vice Adm. Scott Gray, commander, Navy installations Command, and received a Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) program update. Harmon provided updates on enlisted personnel policies and initiatives, including Senior Enlisted Marketplace and Billet-Based Advancement, while Gray addressed shore readiness and installation programs and services that support Sailors, families and Fleet operations. The discussions gave council members an opportunity to examine Fleet-raised issues alongside the leaders responsible for many of the policies, programs and resources that shape a Sailor’s service. Members worked through issue papers submitted from across the Fleet, examined potential barriers to change and identified issues requiring continued action through the ERC. The council will meet regularly and provide readiness assessments, recommendations, and issue-focused analysis to CNO for consideration, while issues requiring additional work will continue through the appropriate committee and tracked to ensure issues raised from the Fleet remain visible as decisions are made and actions move forward.

CNO’s Eye On The Fleet: Welcome home, USS Minnesota! During its first deployment since becoming the Navy’s first forward-deployed Virginia-class submarine, Minnesota participated in the multinational exercise Valiant Shield 2026 and made port visits to Okinawa and Sasebo, Japan. The Okinawa visit demonstrated the Navy’s ability to sustain undersea capabilities forward at a variety of locations throughout the Pacific.

Last week’s Future Games in Newport offered a glimpse of how the U.S. Navy’s senior leaders are preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.  Across every domain, at sea, beneath the surface, in the air, in space, and across the information environment, our Sailors are combining emerging technology with operational experience to move faster, see farther, and fight smarter. The capabilities in this video represent more than innovation. They reflect a Navy that is learning, adapting, and ready to respond wherever and whenever our nation calls.
