I’m about to lose my virginity soon. After spending hours talking with @themoe and @JosipVolarevic2, I decided to take this step.

My motivation comes from few things:

I intentionally booked my tickets to make it to @solanamobile week and catch up with @beeman_nl.
It turned into:

I think there’s another point worth discussing.
Compared to constantly hopping between expensive conferences, consistently showing up at your local community events like this one tomorrow from @SuperteamTH or spending meaningful time at places like @islanddao, can easily create 10x to 100x more value.
The real magic happens when you combine all three.
Build your foundation locally. Build deeper relationships during month long experiences like IslandDAO. Then bring that network and momentum to the big conferences.
That’s when you get the most out of them.

I extended my own stay from one week to two after my first day there.
Every new iPhone gets better because it builds on what people loved and what needed improvement in the previous one.
I see IslandDAO the same way.
Each version gets more refined because the team already knows what brings the right people together and creates an environment where meaningful things can happen.

Builders might get mad at me for this, but almost nobody in crypto sees anything except marketing.
If you think paying for marketing and content creators doesn’t do anything, look at what just happened to Cardano.
You’ve just witnessed the power of social engineering and narratives led by influencers & media who completely changed the public opinion of Cardano, sending the price from 24 cents to 15 cents in just a week.
Crypto is not a competition of best tech it’s a competition of public perception.
The market has repeatedly shown that being technologically superior is not enough.
Just look at Solana. Despite outages and technical issues, it climbed to the top because it captured marketing. Ethereum is still number two despite being expensive to use.
Yet Cardano still likes to believe that investors solely buy based on tech, decentralization, and infra.
”build it and they’ll come“
- they won‘t.
The majority of people buy based on public attention (marketing) and perceived upside.
Infrastructure improvements may excite developers, but developers are not the market.
I strongly believe we’re in a good place right now to really push what we have already built, but it looks like this will be yet another year we let projects and public attention die for the sake of funding even more infrastructure that won’t change a thing for the majority of the end user.
