Lupita Nyong’o will play dual roles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. Nyong’o will play Helen of Troy and her sister, Clytemnestra. Helen of Troy is known as “the most beautiful woman in the world” according to Greek mythology and is described as “the face that launched a thousand ships.” She was previously portrayed by Diane Kruger. To be eligible for Best Picture at the Oscars, a film must meet 2 out of these 4 standards: 1. At least 1 major role is from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group, or 30% of smaller roles are from underrepresented groups, or the story focuses on an underrepresented group. 2. At least 2 major creative leaders or department heads are from underrepresented groups, with at least 1 from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group. 3. The film company provides paid internships, apprenticeships, or training for underrepresented groups. 4. The studio has multiple senior marketing, publicity, or distribution executives from underrepresented groups.
