I made this little tweak to the styles menu, which I figured was a silly idea I would revert immediately. But on seeing it, I think its going to stay. The styles menu shows the style of the current block, and allows it to be switched. The change was to keep the active selection aligned to the start of the block, and move the menu itself. I like it because the menu highlight serves to show you which style the block is, and which block it will apply to.

I'm sure Mac users knows this already, but I just discovered it. You can configure a gesture ctrl + double finger swipe to zoom the screen. It's an accessibility option, but if you are a pixel-peeper like me it is a fantastic aid for app / web development. I used to use an app called Slurp which is more of a color picker, but had a zoom option. But this builtin feature is way better.

New version of Ishmael lands tomorrow. Ishmael is a Novel editor with features like prose-healing, sentence focus, and typewriter mode to help you get in the zone and write that novel. Exports agent ready manuscripts and EPUB.

Another iteration on Ishmael's design. The footer controls are back to being more minimal. With a tweak to the style display. The cover and title area has more space, and fits in all fields, while the cover image stretches with it. The divider below the cover has gone, and replaced with a shadow if it scrolls.

Has there been any scholarly research done to compare building an user interface with and without AI? In my experience, progress with manual UI development is slow to start, but increases in speed and then plateaus. If done well. Done poorly, and progress slows and slows until it is glacial. But for sake of argument, let's consider it done well. With AI in the mix, development speed is rapid at the start. But then it slows down. And that slowing down feels exponential. I also suspect that AI development can hide catastrophic bugs to a greater extent than manual development. I have a feeling that over the short to medium term, AI wins. But there could be a point where manual development wins for longer projects. There is of course a third option: augmented with AI and manual development. With humans in the mix, reading AI code. That would likely have different characteristics entirely. Thoughts?

Another nice day using @willmcgugan's Dinkus markdown studio. Normally I prefer to handcraft my markdown, but I'm happy using this editor. If you are on a Mac and use markdown, you owe it to yourself (and Will, the guy behind RICH and TEXTUAL) to try it.
