Your story made me think of something weird that happened to me. I had these really nice designer boots, dark blue velvet, so I only ever wore them in winter. But they were so pretty I kept them right in the middle of my shoe rack, front and centre, so I could look at them every day. I genuinely loved those shoes. Every morning I would glance at them and get excited for cold weather so I could wear them again. Then one morning they were just gone. The spot where they always sat had a different pair of my shoes in it instead. I live alone. I had not had anyone over in weeks. I had not even left my apartment since the last time I saw them. I thought maybe I sleepwalked or moved them without thinking, but I tore my room apart looking. I never found them. I have since moved out, which meant packing up every single thing I own, going through every box, every corner, every bag. Still nothing. They are real, by the way. I have photos of me wearing them from previous years. I just have no idea how the hell that was possible and it still freaks me out.
