people develop strange filter rules when they are dating i recently came across a guy with a list (??) that included “iPhone user” when i brought it up to other single friends, everyone understood and some strongly agreed how crazy that a product has become a proxy for personality type when i asked him why: “it’s a type. i just want someone normal” (also listed: no tattoos, no coloured hair) basically, a commercial version of a girlfriend one of the girls also said: “android guys are kinda weird” someone said it “sets a good standard” but might judge how recent the iPhone is a girl said it was a sign of intelligence, and that they would probably fight about a lot of things like politics and moral values tl;dr people are looking for cues of how normal someone is and using an iPhone seems to fit that
