The @APA's decision to delay recognizing the Association of Jewish Psychologists, for the second time this year, serves no purpose and has no justification.
Jewish identity encompasses religion, ethnicity and culture.
Dismissing that complexity to deny Jewish psychologists the same representation afforded to every other ethnic minority group is both factually wrong and a clear double standard.
The Council's job was to evaluate AJP's eligibility under its own bylaws, not to referee political disagreements or impose ideological litmus tests on a Jewish professional organization.
