Just read this. It applies well to how we think about @HeebooOfficial onboarding and franchise growth May seem intuitive but still important: There’s a minimum quality bar for content to be successful, but after that it’s all about socially driven luck. This comes from a study called MusicLabs: Over 14,000 people rated 48 songs from unknown bands. One group rated blind, so they couldn’t see any social indicators: no download counts, no rankings, no views or likes. They just voted on whether they liked the song or not. The rest were split into eight parallel worlds where everyone could see the ratings and metrics from the people before them. Bad songs failed in every world. No amount of social buzz saved them. But once a song cleared the quality bar, anything could happen. Wild example: One song ranked 26th out of 48 in the control group (where they see no metrics/ranking), but finished #1# and 40th in two groups where rankings and social metrics were visible . The conclusion: Quality gets you in the game. The social cascade decides the rest. This is where I think social equity and fan recognition/incentive moves the needle from Hope and Luck to materially better outcomes on average.
