3.5M views/167k likes on a completely false anti data center conspiracy theory. An external construction crew struck an underground power line, which is what led to power loss, but people continue to fall for anti data center conspiracies.

I'm skeptical that we can draw too much from this because data centers are choosing the markets with the cheapest and most reliable abundant electricity in the first place, though obviously we know DCs aren't creating unique electricity cost catastrophes right now.

This is the single most important chart.
If AI were driving prices, you'd see a cluster top-right. You don't.
States with huge load growth (VA, TX, NV, ND, IA) sit at ~0c change in 5y. States with massive price hikes (CA, NY, MA, CT) have basically NO load growth.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown of why this didn't happen for so long? Was crazy how much nicer it was when I walked by.
Kind of stunned at how many of these I see focused on the land. I'd be curious to ask people who believe data centers are gonna take all the land "Have you, personally, seen one?"
There are so many insane wildly misleading stories coming out about data centers almost every day now that I'm mostly having to give up on commenting on them to focus on actually getting blog posts out, but it feels like a tsunami. I'll share one from just today as an example.
