A supermarket's third-biggest cost isn't what you'd think.
Turns out it's gas and a significant share of that cost comes from leaks that can go unnoticed for too long.
▪ For US retailers, gas is reportedly the #3# expense, behind only employees and rent
▪ Instead of checking once every quarter, @Auki is exploring a robot that could continuously monitor for leaks
▪ One partner is already spending roughly $10K per year on quarterly manual measurements alone
If the pilots are successful, the team sees potential for hundreds possibly thousands of additional robots from this single use case.
It may not sound flashy, but imho, these are exactly the kinds of practical use cases that can scale.

Wang Xingxing is making exactly the point we discussed in our Twitter Space a few days ago @broodsugar.
Many robotics companies are going straight for generalized physical intelligence, building full-stack systems behind closed doors and expecting robots to work everywhere once R&D is complete.
But world models require enormous compute, while real robots must run them on limited onboard hardware. That gap becomes even harder when the model needs to perceive, reason and act in real time.
