1. You cannot understand this cultural and political moment unless you reckon with how lonely, disconnected, and "demoralized" a very large minority of young men in America have become. Roughly 4-in-10 young men aged 18-29 feel like failures, report chronic loneliness, are absent from religious, civic, or volunteer life, and lose themselves in digital worlds of porn, gaming, and gambling. This is what the digital revolution has wrought: a generation of young men adrift, disengaged, and drifting--too often bereft of connections to real people and real institutions in the real world.
