Probably another factor they use to identify real users.
I lost -$19K on Polymarket, and here's what I learned.
Almost all of that loss came from just 3 trades:
- Starship Flight Test: -$7K
- EPL Match: -$7K
- MicroStrategy selling Bitcoin: -$6K
The funny part? None of these were crazy degen bets.
In my head, they were the "safe" ones.
The kind of trades where you think, "I'll risk $7K to make an easy $300. What could go wrong?" Turns out, a lot.
That's probably the biggest lesson Polymarket taught me: the trades that feel like free money are often the most dangerous ones.
Since then, I've completely changed how I approach risk.
Today, I'd rather risk $100 to make $500-$1,000 than risk $7K to make a few hundred bucks.
If the $100 trade loses, I move on. I still have plenty of dry powder. And when one winner lands, it can pay for several losses.
Maybe it's not the perfect strategy, but I'd much rather be wrong five times with $100 than be wrong once with $7K.
