Glad to be alongside @standwithcrypto Illinois Chapter President @c_georgen talking with Chicagoans about the first-in-the-nation tax in the newly enacted law: Digital Asset Tax Act (DATA).
Starting January 1, 2027, it imposes a 0.2% tax on the full value of a digital asset every time an Illinois customer receives a covered exchange, transfer, or storage service from a digital asset broker. The customer pays the tax; the broker collects it.
