Thanks to @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @SecretaryBurgum, Washington DC is getting a long overdue cleanup. At the @StateDept, we’re delighted that the Bernardo de Gálvez statue, which adjoins our building, was recently cleaned and waxed by the @NatlParkService and looks as good as new. It was a gift from Spain for our bicentennial in 1976, and was dedicated by King Juan Carlos. Gálvez was the colonial Governor of Spanish Louisiana and later Viceroy of New Spain. During our Revolutionary War, he successfully fought the British and drove them from the Gulf Coast, helping secure American independence. The city of Galveston, Texas (and one of my favorite Glen Campbell songs) is named after him. ¡Viva Gálvez!
