True, very true. But when the OST was written we had no idea how much, how fast, and how far a lander’s exhaust blows dust on the airless Moon, so unlike Antarctica you can’t just go anywhere without sandblasting and ruining hardware that was there before you. It’s a big issue.
“We were hoping that Mars settlement would drag up the entire in-space industry. I ran models on Mars settlement, and I believe it’s very doable. But the new thing now is AI. AI swept in like a storm two, three years ago. Suddenly everybody woke up and realized, ‘No, this is the killer app for space.’”
I’m late to the party, but trying AI bots for the first time today, using @Grok Bot. For a test, I’m seeing what it can tell us new about deep cratering physics under a rocket exhaust punching into regolith. We will soon see…
We can announce the news! 🥳
I’m excited to be part of the EMILIA-3D team developing an instrument that will fly to the lunar surface. My role is to understand how the plume affects the landing site and to improve plume physics with the new measurements.
