Nobody teaches you this in school, so let me save you a decade of confusion.
Your salary doesn't matter as much as your savings rate.
I know two people who made this obvious once you see it laid out:
Person A makes $120k a year and saves 5%. That's $6,000 a year.
Person B makes $70k a year and saves 20%. That's $14,000 a year.
Person B is building wealth more than twice as fast on almost half the income.
The number on your paycheck feels like the whole story. It's not even the main character.
