Highlights: 🔹 Who filled @coinbase's Bitcoin loan book? @sparkfinance was one of the main LPs, supplying up to 80–90% of the liquidity as the product grew from $0 to $600M. 🔹 The money is no longer crypto-native, crypto-native liquidity is thinning. 🔹 Who's actually borrowing? 35% crypto hedge funds, half of it OGs levering BTC and ETH. And off-chain OTC lending is still twice the size of everything on-chain. 🔹 In Asia, a good product only gets you to the table — trust, distribution, regulation, and what Western protocols keep getting wrong out here. 🔹 Seven years, still no fixed rates: the cold-start problem, and whether the yen carry trade can finally move on-chain. 🔹 "In three to five years, you won't hear about DeFi" what both of them think is left standing once the label goes away. Hope you enjoy this episode!

Why we built on @SurfAI, from our AI lead @glazecl. 🌊Best-in-class settlement, fundamentals, and fundraising data, flexible enough (MCP + API) to wire straight into the research tooling we'd already built. ▶️

How it actually works in our research stack👇 Full write-up:
Proud to partner with @SurfAI as their first design partner. 🌊 We've plugged @SurfAI into our internal research agent as the sole source for 5 data categories our stack couldn't cover: social mindshare, perp liquidations by exchange, VC fund data, prediction markets, and fundraising. One question in, cross-checked diligence out.

We’re proud to deepen our partnership with @centrifuge, now extending into Asia. Our conviction here isn’t new. We first backed Centrifuge in 2021, when bringing real-world assets onchain was still a thesis most of the market hadn’t priced in. We joined again in the 2024 round, and we’ve continued to increase our position since, as the institutional pipeline has matured from idea to scaled adoption. That trajectory is why this partnership matters now. Tokenization in Asia has reached the point where the bottleneck is no longer technology, it’s the connective tissue: the capital, the regulatory access, and the distribution that turn institutional-grade products into adopted ones. Centrifuge has built the infrastructure. IOSG brings the regional network across all three. Together we’re building a single route for Asian institutions to bring assets onchain, from structuring to distribution. This is a long-term commitment, and we’re putting real weight behind it. More to come over the coming months.

Centrifuge and @IOSGVC have entered into a strategic partnership to advance institutional tokenization across Asia. IOSG first backed Centrifuge in 2021 and has now increased its position through open-market purchases. That reflects a shared conviction: tokenized assets are moving from an emerging thesis to an increasingly important part of global capital markets. Asia is emerging as a key region in that shift, driven by growing institutional interest and rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystems. Together, we’ll help expand access to tokenized assets across Asia and support the next phase of growth.

We’re excited to continue backing @Morpho as it scales the foundation for onchain credit. At the core of our thesis is a simple belief: lending and money markets are foundational primitives of any economy. As more assets move on-chain, the infrastructure that manages these functions will sit at the center of the on-chain economy. @Morpho is the strongest candidate to become that infrastructure. Congrats to @PaulFrambot and the @Morpho team on this major milestone!

The race for Web3's capital is on, and Hong Kong intends to win it. 🇭🇰 Hosted #IOSG# × HK LegCo · Founder Tea #1# this week. Our founding partner @jocyiosg brought together 16 top Web3 founders at Cyberport with the Hon. Duncan Chiu, HK Legislator. Across four tracks: → RWA @AssetoFinance,@DigiFTTech, Anchored, @StableStock → Public Markets @RedotPay, @MicrobitCapital, Boyaa Interactive, @SoSoValueCrypto → Infrastructure @alt_layer, @brevis_zk, @Conflux_Network, @Sign → DeFi @SynFuturesDefi, @dForcenet, Unified Labs 6 hours of unfiltered truth, centered on one question: "Why HK over Singapore?" The discussion covered HK's strengths (financial depth, legal system, location), where it still falls short (compliance costs, licensing, banking access), and concrete asks to government: tiered regulation, an innovation sandbox, lighter licensing, and a clear path for digital asset trusts (DAT). Duncan set this as the first consultation for Hong Kong's first-ever 5-Year Web3 Plan (2027–2032), reaching the Chief Executive's Office by end of June. In his words: "I hope to submit these recommendations and have them included in Hong Kong's first-ever 5-Year Plan — shaping the city's Web3 direction for the next five years."

Stop blaming the prompt. Your AI workflow has no closed loop. The real AI upgrade for research institutions isn't prompt engineering. It's harness design. Decompose → Continue → Verify → Accumulate. Same model, better harness: ~5x throughput, cleaner signals, reusable research assets. Let's break it down with quantitative factor research 👇
