Most common reason I reject editorials submitted to journals is that they attack "conventional wisdom" or "the received view" which no one holds, as evidenced by the fact that they don't cite anyone who supports the views they are critiquing. A lot of academics just can't let go of the self-image of brave rebel fighting the Establishment, even when they are in every way the embodiment of that Establishment.

Bumble, the dating site founded on the idea of letting women initiate now allows men to make the first move because it's what their members' wanted. Not encouraging if your proposed solution to the lack of dating/relationships is women initiating more.
