As an autistic person, one of my experiences is that I can get sucked into an almost "compulsive" kind of spiral, deep diving and learning more about a specific topic. For me, it's often topic that help me understand myself or the world around me, and even sometimes to help solve my own physical ailments or mental struggles. A good way I can describe it is like my brain was pre-programmed with its own agenda of what it must solve for this world and it cannot rest or focus on anything else but that one topic until it feels understood or the loop feels closed. I couldn't focus on anything else if I tried because my brain starts to get jumbled and confused with competing thoughts all at once unless I engage them further. It's regulating in its own kind of way.

BOOKING THE VACATION AUTISM: "You have six tabs open. You've been comparing for three weeks" ADHD: "You book something in ten minutes flat. You regret it later, sometimes" HIGHLY SENSITIVE: "You need the exact right balance of quiet, nature, low sensory input and still enough adventure." AUDHD: "Six tabs open for three weeks. Then you book spontaneously in ten minutes because you can't tolerate the decision anymore."

People reveal more about themselves through the comments they leave than the posts they publish. A comment is often a glimpse into someone’s values, frustrations, or insecurities. Once you start paying attention, you can’t unsee it.

You could have been the most amazing partner to your dismissive avoidant ex. It still wouldn't have changed the ending. Because their behavior is not a reaction to you it's a reaction to closeness itself.
