Comparing an old welfare state that lives off the dwindling inheritance of past productivity to a poorer post-war country in recovery from decades of gang violence is not the gotcha you think it is. Germany is taking away benefits to prop up its crumbling system and punishing workers for its spectacular mismanagement, whereas El Salvador is in the middle of a reform of its medical system (and economy, and education sector, etc.). Germany has a chancellor who berates his people and celebrates his own failures, whereas El Salvador has a president who actually cares, and would you believe it—one is the world’s most popular elected head of state, while the other is the least popular. But sure, Germany is still wealthier than El Salvador. Congratulations! I hope they don’t mess that up too.

@LinaSeiche Your post made me curious. Is AI correct on the facts here?
A country that hates you like this does not deserve your presence. There are nations in this world that will bend over backwards to have you contribute to their future. You are under no obligation to give your valuable lifetime to a country that treats you like cattle.

Germany's Chancellor Merz: We can no longer accept the extraordinarily high levels of sick leave in our companies. We are abolishing sick leave by telephone and introducing the requirement to submit a medical certificate from the very first day of illness. We know this is a tough decision. But we can no longer afford this competitive disadvantage caused by prolonged absences from work.

I want to share a little about the Salvadoran mission to Venezuela; the part you don’t see. The mission is handled by the President of El Salvador. Meaning it is literally handled directly by him. Every thread of the operation reports to @nayibbukele. Rescue workers update the President by the minute and make decisions together: where to go, how to approach a location, how thin to spread the teams, how long to stay. The rescuers put their lives on the line to pull people out of the rubble. They squeeze into fragile buildings and dig with their hands where heavy equipment would collapse the structure. They have the President in their ear along the way. He monitors every person they rescue from the first point of contact until they reach the hospital, where he oversees their medical treatment plans. He decides whether to call off a search or keep it going. It’s an impossible decision, which is why he makes it. This is how El Salvador has managed every emergency of the last 7 years. It’s the first time Bukele applies his methods at this scale to help another country. I’m writing this because after the fact, people often post about how you merely need to “flip a switch to fix everything.” The truth looks a lot more like this. Missions from around the world have now deployed their teams. All of them are doing God’s work. May they be protected and save many more lives today.

I’m not even Salvadoran, but I’m proud of the President. He has been managing every aspect of the rescue mission to Venezuela for days without pause. In a world of politicians who spend their time talking, here’s a great leader and friend to people beyond his borders. May they save many lives.

Fuerza Venezuela 🇸🇻🇻🇪
