MLS wants to create more games of consequence. To do that, it is increasing the playoff field so that 20 of 30 teams make it in.

Can it sell that this makes regular season games matter more? That's a tough sell. Complicated for fans, too.

New: MLS is planning another potential overhaul to its playoff system, one that could involve as many as 20 teams, feature a "double-elimination" component along with a mess of other changes. Nothing finalized yet.

One of the highlights of my stay on Twitter was me saying that I just "didn't get" the hype around Ted Lasso and a user responding to me telling me that I "do not understand joy."
There are some people who are *really* weird about Ted Lasso on this app. Oh my goodness. It's a good show that I like, and I'm thrilled it's back, but how are folks this parasocial about it?
Paul's bylines & work have been a part of my life since I was in the single digits - growing up in Nashville in the 80s, the only access I had to soccer was a SA subscription & the EuroSport catalog.
PK leaves behind an incredibly important body of work. Deeply grateful for it.

Today is my last day as Soccer America’s Editor in Chief & General Manager. I have been editing SA for almost 41 years. I began writing for SA in 1974 and for France Football in 1978. A long time ago! I’ve loved just about every minute of it (and just about all of you!) but the job is hard work and I look forward to cutting back. (I’ll continue to write.) SA will be in great hands as my dear friend Mike Woitalla takes over as Editor in Chief. 🙏
