Today marks the late astronaut Neil Armstrong’s 96th birthday (the namesake of NASA Glenn’s Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio)! 🎂 He was the first person to step foot on the Moon’s surface, saying the famous quote, “That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.” As NASA looks ahead to Artemis III and beyond, we remember Neil Armstrong as a trailblazer of space exploration. Fun fact: Armstrong was born on Aug. 5, 1930, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He began his professional career at the Lewis Flight Propulsion Lab (now NASA Glenn) as a research pilot.
