US 30-year fixed mortgage rates hit 7.45% on September 24, according to Mortgage News Daily’s index.
Up from 7.26% in ONE DAY.
A new $500,000 mortgage over 30 years at 7.45% would cost about $3,479 a month in principal and interest.
At 3%, the same loan would cost $2,108.
That’s roughly $16,450 MORE per year to borrow the same amount.
Property taxes, insurance and maintenance still come on top.
I’m struggling to see a strong housing recovery while the monthly payment keeps moving further out of reach…

$UBER keeps giving me reasons to like the business, just like $GRAB.
In Q2 2026, Uber’s revenue grew 12% to $14.2B, trips increased 18% and operating profit jumped 30% year over year.
$2.8 BILLION in free cash flow in one quarter. Over $10B across the past 12 months.
Grab’s Q2 revenue grew 22%, while adjusted EBITDA increased 54% year over year.
What I like about Uber here: demand is still growing double digits, and operating profit is growing more than twice as fast as revenue.
