When I joined Twitter it was early and people told me it was a strange move and the company would never make money. I personally believed that where the internet met culture was interesting. That worked out. When I joined Coinbase in late 2017 people told me crypto was for criminals. Some of the smartest engineers and investors I knew saw the potential to build an entirely new layer of financial infrastructure. I liked that Coinbase was choosing to build the safe compliant bridge between fiat and crypto. That turned OK too. The work I have always found most interesting is closing the gap between what is true about a company, its founders and its products, and what people think they know about them.
