Very interesting! Now that I think of it, I actually don't think I know a single person with a +$1M net worth who drinks (or at least gets drunk).
Interesting correlation.
My wife and I stopped drinking when she was pregnant almost 5 years ago and we haven't touched alcohol since.

When you move to self-hosting your products, security automatically becomes the number 1 concern.
I used to have CloudFront distributions sitting in front of every public endpoint.
Another popular solution is using CloudFlare tunnels and Tailscale. The only issue is - it's still "cloudy". And personally, I wanted to get rid of that.
Fortunately, I found a surprisingly simple setup that can do roughly the same as CloudFlare tunnels - but fully self-hosted.
Let me show you 👇

Here's the best way to use OpenAI's/Anthropic's latest frontier models.
- Wait for China to distill them.
- Use them to build tight, custom harnesses, safeguards, evals, and tooling for Qwen/DeepSeek.
Then use Qwen/DeepSeek for your work. Once a new model is out, repeat the two steps above.

Since the Codex reset yesterday, I already depleted the weekly limits of one of my Codex accounts.
This account exlusively uses GPT-5.6 Sol. I'm tracking all token consumption through my OpenClaw setup, so it's very easy to compare to previous periods.
Limits are now exhausting 4.8-5.9x faster than they did just 2 months ago while consumption is now around ~18% slower.
Same reasoning efforts, same mixed type of work.
The token rug pull is coming.

At this point, GPT-5.6 Sol feels as useful as Qwen 3.8. And GPT-6 is eating my weekly limits in 2 blinks of an eye.
I see no reason to continue this.
Qwen 3.8 can run comfortably on consumer-grade graphic cards, or rented with Vast/RunPod for less than my 5 20x Codex subscriptions cost, and I would have truly unlimited consumption.
Time for change.

Not only that - but at least GPT-5.6 Sol also feels dumber right now. Could be "placebo" since I can't really proof this part with numbers, but seems to require extra babysitting today.
Everytime I see the "why spend money on hardware for local AI, just use subscriptions" argument, I die a little on the inside.
These two tweets cover the two absolutely critical pieces that often get missed in this "debate".
Privacy abuses by providers get worse, while your limits shrink.
Don't be a subscription-slave, choose freedom tech via local AI.

We're 72% through 2026.
The best quarter is about to begin and there's still time to make this the best year you've had!
Let's go 🔥
I couldn't be more thrilled! 👏
I've been on Linux for the past 20 years (never owned an Apple product, used Windows here and there but always hated it).
I never thought we were ever gonna have a year of Linux desktop.
Then
@dhh came along with Omarchy.

After 6 years with my mechanical split keyboard, I changed to this new one.
@lofreeco Flow - super nice product 🤌

Invest in an ergonomic keyboard.
They can seriously reduce stress and strain if you're working with a computer a lot.
Yes, they may cost $400, and yes, it seems like a lot of money to pay.

I've been saying this for years. Don't call yourself an indie hacker. It's unnecessarily self-deprecating.
You're building a business.
A lot of first hires in SaaS are just automation debt.
Ops people moving data between tools. Support people answering the same question 40 times. Content people repackaging the same idea for 5 channels.
Headcount is the expensive way to avoid fixing a system that should have been automated already.
