Developed by the USGS and state partners in California, Oregon, and Washington, the initiative includes standards-based lessons, teaching tools, and other resources. ShakeAlert®, the nation's public earthquake early warning system, can provide seconds of warning before strong shaking arrives, giving people time to take protective action, such as Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
