Through strong bipartisan collaboration, Republicans and Democrats came together to modernize outdated tax rules that have failed to keep pace as digital assets become part of everyday life for millions of Americans, putting them on a level playing field with traditional financial assets.

After more than a year of bipartisan work, the Ways and Means Committee is marking up the first-ever tax framework for digital assets, bringing much needed tax certainty to this growing part of our economy.
Today’s markup also includes legislation to strengthen tax administration, expand access to lifesaving health care, crack down on forced labor in critical mineral supply chains, and support hardworking moms and families.

PASSED: The Committee just passed H.R. 9721, the Fiscal Sponsorship Transparency Act of 2026.
Introduced by @RepSmucker, this bill specifically addresses fiscal sponsorship and requires tax-exempt organizations to disclose certain information about the groups they are fiscally sponsoring. This will help prevent organizations from taking advantage of the lack of transparency these arrangements provide to skirt the rules and fund bad and dangerous groups.
