Most companies hire for the role. We hire for the person. My first hire wanted to be a developer. That's all. Now he's my second in command. Did I know? No. But I felt it early. The longer I lead, the more I trust that feeling. Hire the person. Empower them. Step aside.

We have recently identified a situation involving an early supporter who has attempted to transfer their token allocation (still subject to original lock schedule) to third parties in an unauthorized manner. For clarity, this allocation has been invalidated and no longer exists. Our biggest backer met the full @FolksFinance team for the first time. @amitm_eth didn't talk about the product or the roadmap. He talked about the energy. The culture. How it felt more like a family than a team. That's when you know you've built something real.

I've never been obsessed with hiring the big name who just left @Google . What I care about is young, hungry energy. People with high agency who actually get things done. Some will stay a long time. Some will go build their own things. And when that happens, I'm proud of it. Because it means we built a place where ambitious people can grow. Folks family.

Some of the best ideas don't come from meetings. They come over dinner, off the clock, when the team is just talking. That's a sign of a healthy team. You don't protect the plan for the sake of the plan. You let better thinking in. Big focus right now: @FolksMobile. DeFi needs to be accessible beyond the people who already understand it.

The hardest founder skill nobody talks about: Being tired, stressed, unsure, and still showing up calm. You feel it all. But you can’t amplify it. Your team looks to you for direction. You can’t show uncertainty. You have to absorb it. That’s a skill you learn the hard way.

Expansion always looks simple from the outside. “Just deploy on another chain.” For us, it wasn’t that. We didn’t copy deployments. We rebuilt the infrastructure to make it truly crosschain. Growth looks obvious in hindsight. Up close, it’s constant innovation & iteration.
