Faster finality is coming!
A very quick proof of concept, but on a network that's a decent fraction of Mainnet size. First step, a modest 4x improvement in time to finality - the main thing was to benchmark decoupled consensus.

The "overpaying for security" discussion would benefit from distinguishing quality from quantity.
Should we be happy to pay for 32 more ETH
1. staked in a CeX or LST? Meh - our quantity of stake is probably fine.
2. solo-staked in some enthusiast's far-away living room? Absolutely! That's quality stake, that is.
I have no idea how to make this happen in practice, but the "overpaying" thing is simplistic as it stands.

To expand on this a little...
I absolutely love operating in the "bazaar" style of development - the energy, the engagement, the creativity are unsurpassed.
But one of its weaknesses is that information is fragmented. Things are often confusing and hard to follow. There's lots of noise. It's especially hard for newcomers.
That's why it's so good when people like @wolovim step up and give us the tools to organise things, and most importantly, maintain them week by week.
So, yes, Forkcast is fabulous - I keep discovering new useful features. I honestly don't know how we managed before 🙏
